Digital product price calculator
Choose what you are selling, how long it is, the niche and who it is for. You get a price range to start from and a launch price, with the reason for each adjustment. The ranges are PDFLaunch's own rules of thumb, set out in full below; they are a starting point to test, not market data.
Launch at $14.99, in the lower third of the range, and raise the price once the first reviews are in.
Why this range
- A how-to guide that solves one specific problem usually sells between $9 and $19 as a first product.
- 15–40 pages is the usual length for this kind of product, so the range stands as it is.
- Business, money and career topics pay back in money, so buyers accept a higher price.
- Beginners are less sure what a good result is worth, so start toward the lower end.
How the calculator works
Each product type starts from a range, which is then multiplied by one factor for length, one for the niche and one for the audience, and rounded to a price ending in .99. The whole table is below. These are PDFLaunch's own rules of thumb, not prices collected from stores, so treat the result as a first price to test.
| Product type | Starting range |
|---|---|
| PDF guide / ebook | $9 – $19 |
| Workbook (exercises to fill in) | $12 – $24 |
| Checklist or cheat sheet | $3 – $9 |
| Template pack | $12 – $29 |
| Planner or printable | $5 – $15 |
| SOP or training manual | $29 – $79 |
| Study guide | $7 – $17 |
Factors: length under 15 pages ×0.75, 15–40 pages ×1, over 40 pages ×1.25; niche business, money or career ×1.3, marketing or selling online ×1.2, tech, software or ai tools ×1.15, health, fitness or food ×1, home, parenting or relationships ×0.9, hobby, craft or travel ×0.85, school or exam prep ×0.9; audience beginners / general public ×0.9, enthusiasts who already know the basics ×1, professionals or business owners ×1.3.

Questions
›Where do the price ranges come from?
From a fixed table PDFLaunch keeps: a starting range for each product type, moved up or down by length, niche and audience. It is a rule of thumb, not a survey of store prices, and every step it takes is shown with the result so you can disagree with it.
›Should I launch at the low or the high end of the range?
The suggested launch price sits in the lower third of the range: low enough that the first buyers take the chance, high enough that you can raise it once reviews come in. Raising a price later is easier than defending a price that looks too cheap.
›Does a longer PDF justify a higher price?
Only a little. Buyers pay for the result, not the page count; a 20-page guide that solves one problem well can outsell a 60-page one. The calculator moves the price for length, but the niche and the audience move it more.
