1. Who We Are

PDFLaunch ("we", "us", "our") operates the PDFLaunch platform at pdflaunch.app. This policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data. Contact us at support@pdfguide.app with any questions.

2. Data We Collect

Account information (via Clerk)

When you create an account, Clerk collects your email address and, if you use social sign-in, your name and profile picture from the identity provider. We receive and store your user ID and email address from Clerk to identify your account and send transactional emails.

Guide content

We store the outlines, chapter text, and PDF files you generate through the platform in our database. This content is tied to your account and used solely to provide the service (displaying your guides in the dashboard, allowing downloads, and enabling republishing).

Payment information (via Stripe)

Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number, CVC, or bank details. We receive from Stripe a customer ID, subscription status, and transaction records which we store to manage your billing.

Usage data

We may collect basic analytics such as page views and feature usage to understand how the platform is used and to improve it. This data is aggregated and not used to profile individual users.

Cookies

We use cookies set by Clerk for authentication session management, and may use analytics cookies if you consent via the banner shown on first visit. You can decline analytics cookies without affecting your ability to use the service.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • To create and manage your account
  • To generate, store, and serve your PDF guides
  • To process payments and manage your subscription
  • To send transactional emails (receipts, account alerts)
  • To improve the platform through aggregated analytics
  • To comply with legal obligations

4. We Do Not Sell Your Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes. Your guide content is never used to train AI models by us or any third party we engage.

5. Data Sharing

We share data only with the following sub-processors, each bound by their own privacy obligations:

  • Clerk — authentication and user management
  • Stripe — payment processing and subscription management
  • Anthropic — AI text generation (your prompts and guide topics are sent to their API)
  • Gumroad — publishing products to your connected storefront (only when you explicitly trigger a publish)

We do not share your data with any other third parties unless required by law.

6. GDPR Rights

If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have the following rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
  • Erasure — request deletion of your personal data (see below)
  • Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format
  • Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Restriction — request that we restrict processing of your data

To exercise any of these rights, email support@pdfguide.app. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Data Deletion

To request deletion of your account and all associated data, email support@pdfguide.app with the subject line "Delete my account". We will delete your account, guide content, and personal data within 30 days. Note that Stripe retains transaction records for legal and tax compliance purposes; we cannot delete those on your behalf.

8. Data Retention

We retain your account data and guide content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your data within 30 days except where retention is required by law (e.g., financial records).

9. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS), access controls, and secure credential storage. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong unique password and keep your account credentials private.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes by email. Continued use of PDFLaunch after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
